Back to School: Part 2

So as promised, here is part 2 of my back to school look. It’s now 2 weeks into September and the weather is finally starting to feel more like fall and less like summer (bittersweet 😦 ). Many of you will have just finished your second week of school and now that the weather is starting to cool down, you may be looking for inspiration for your fall wardrobe, while still trying to go back to school in style. I decided to go for a different style of look from my last post, to encompass the different style types out there. For this post, I decided to go for a more casual, urban look. Check it out!

Jeans: One Teaspoon

Leather Cap: Aritzia

For my outfit I decided to keep it casual yet cool, by rocking the Canadian tux. For those of you that don’t know, the Canadian tuxedo is a slang term for when someone pairs a denim jacket with a pair of denim jeans. Denim was super popular and trendy in the summer and is also a perfect look for fall. Whether it’s dresses, tops, overalls, or jeans; denim is a staple for any wardrobe. For my look, I paired an oversized denim jacket with a pair of ripped boyfriend jeans and sneakers. I am obsessed with boyfriend jeans, they are comfortable and super easy to style. I really like the boyfriend jeans from One Teaspoon, they have a lot of variety and I find the rips look really nice and aren’t too over the top. Finding a good pair of boyfriend jeans can be tough, but I find One Teaspoon makes a wide range of styles, making it easy to find a pair. The one thing to note when buying these jeans are the sizes. Because the brand is Australian their sizing system is different and I find that you usually need to go down a size or two. With that being said, boyfriend jeans are also great because they are meant to look oversized, so even if they are a little bit big or baggy you can still rock them! For those of you that don’t like ordering jeans online (because let’s be real it’s practically impossible) you can buy One Teaspoon jeans at Aritzia and Urban Outfitters. Boyfriend jeans are great because of their versatility, they can create many different looks. They can be casual when paired with sneakers and a tee, or dressier when paired with heeled boots and a nice blouse. I decided to wear a plain tee, to let my jeans and jacket be the star of the outfit and I finished off my look by pairing it with a leather cap and string, choker necklace.

I know the Canadian tuxedo can sometimes seem like a hard look to rock and it might feel like it is a look that is out of your comfort zone, but I definitely recommend giving it a try. For those new to this look here are some tips for rocking denim on denim. First, always work with real denim or jean because it makes the look come together better and gives it the right texture. Secondly, if you are looking to wear the same color of denim (ex: blue on blue) I find it is easier if the denims differ ever so slightly in color (ex: a blue denim paired with a slightly darker blue denim). Lastly, have fun with it and play around with different cuts, colors and styles! Denim is an extremely versatile fabric and it pairs well with almost anything and everything! I hope these tips help and as always let me know what you think of this look!
